Rugby Evening At The Lycee

The biennial Rugby Dinner to co-incide with the France-England rugby match at Twickenham on Sunday 15th March was, once again, a great success. The strong contingent of supporters who had travelled from France were cheerful as always in spite of their team's defeat!

Held as usual in the dining hall of the Lycee which had been transformed for the occasion by a wonderful rugby-themed decor, the meal preceded by an aperitif provided by Ricard, was pleasantly interrupted by the surprise early arrival of the entire French rugby squad who stayed for the best part of an hour talking to their fans and signing autographs.

During this time any hungry diners were sustained by a delicious smoked salmon and seafood entree and by the bread graciously provided by Cafe Montparnasse. The kitchen coped admirably with the delay and, with a main course of confit de canard, provided us with a real taste of the South West of France. The meal was rounded off by cheese and desserts, both kindly donated by La Cave a Fromage.

Our thanks to all the Lycee staff and to everyone else who contributed to the evening.
